January 02, 2004 By: Nick Town Hearing Impaired Child – A New Section For KidsAs the first hearing aid manufacturer in the industry, Oticon has expanded its award-winning OtiKids web site to include a new section especially written for hearing impaired children between the age of 4 to 12. The new section combines information and entertainment, offering interesting hearing related topics and fun games especially for kids. A particular highlight presents the range of testimonial stories written by children for children. Four hearing impaired children from three different countries tell about their life and experiences with hearing aids. In addition, their parents have given a remarkable report sharing their private experiences, challenges and victories. The OtiKids web site, which was awarded with the prestigious “International Web Page Award” in June 2000, provides a broad range of valuable hearing related information for parents, teachers, relatives and friends of hearing impaired children. A new section addressing grandparents and siblings with relevant information and practical tips has recently been added to complement this comprehensive site. Oticon has a long tradition of serving children with hearing difficulties. The OtiKids web site is part of Oticon’s extensive OtiKids program. It includes creative tools for teachers to further the audiological education of children in an engaging way, and it offers a range of useful business tools for pediatric audiologists. All services developed for the OtiKids program are dedicated to promote understanding, sensitivity, and quality of life through better hearing.
